Lakepoint Wiffle Ball Rules

Wiffle® bats and balls will be provided for all games. Only League-issued bats and balls can be used during play. Bats and balls cannot be altered in any way. Women will be allowed to use the Larger Nerf size Softball Bat which will also be provided

The strike zone is determined by a target approximately 20” wide and 30” high. The Strike Zone will be located 36" from the back of Home Plate. A pitch that hits the border of or within the target is a called strike.

Any combination of two missed swings, called strikes, and/or foul balls is an out. there will be no limit on foul balls. Four balls is a walk. Hit batsmen do not take a base (A Hit Batsman will count as a Ball).A foul tip that hits the strike zone after the Batter has 2 Strikes is an out.

Three outs per inning. 5 innings per game.
(Tournament Games and pick-up games will be also be 5 innings per game)

The batting order must include everyone on the team and remain constant throughout the entire game. All Members of a Team that play in the field must pitch at least one inning.

The pitching mound / rubber will be located 38ft from home plate.

Hits are determined by the designated field areas. A Ball that lands in the area before the first line in-between the foul lines will be an out (Dead Zone).A ball reaching the ground on or past the singles line is a single, landing on or past the doubles line in the air is a double, landing on or past the triple line in the air or hitting the fence in the air is a triple, and landing over the fence is a home run. If a ball comes into contact with a fielder in one designated field area and lands in another (before touching the ground), the hit will be determined by the area that the ball lands in, not where it came into contact with the fielder.
A Foul Ball that lands in fair territory after contact will still be considered a Foul Ball

The field layout will be as follows:

Dead Zone line will be located 15ft from Home Plate
(any ball that lands in this area is an out)

Single Line will be approximately 45ft from Home Plate

Double Line will be approximately 60ft from Home Plate

Triple Line will be approximately 85ft from Home Plate

Home Run Fences Left Field 85ft Center Field 89ft Right Field 87ft The Fence is 6ft High

There is no base running. “Imaginary runners” only.

On a walk, runners advance only when forced. On a hit, all runners advance the same number of bases as the hit.

The designated Official Umpire will keep track of the base runners, counts, lineups, and scores, and his / her decisions on fair/foul balls and safe/out calls will be FINAL.

A ten-run mercy rule will be in effect after each full inning following the third inning.

A maximum of three players are allowed in the field during play (including the pitcher). Fielders can be positioned anywhere in fair territory except the area between home plate and the singles line.

Fielders are allowed to take one step in from the singles line to field a ground ball. Ground balls in front of the Singles line must be fielded with one hand and without any bobbling to be an out, otherwise it is ruled a single. Fly balls can be bobbled, but must be caught with one hand before touching the ground or the fence to be an out. No Trapping is Allowed
Pitcher may use 2 Hands for Fielding

Pitching and fielding substitutions can be made at any time between at-bats, but not during them. Pitchers cannot be relieved until after the opposing team has at least 3 consecutive outs. Pitchers cannot be relieved and re-enter the game as a pitcher until the next inning.

Both teams will start each extra inning with a runner on second base.

Players Throwing a Bat or Ball in an Un sportsman-like manner or acting in an un sportsman-like manner will be fined $1.00 per incident
Fighting, Foul Mouths and Bickering are considered un sportman-like behavior
